Description

An investigation into both classical and contemporary debates about speech acts; topics include the definition of speech acts, the difference between speech acts and signaling, the nature of linguistic humor, and the relationship between speech acts and discourse structure.  The course is co-taught by Mark Richard and Sam Berstler (MIT).  

 

Class Notes

Please note that this course will take place on the MIT campus on Wednesdays 12:45 to 2:45pm - building and room to be announced. Attendees should allow additional time for travel in their schedules.
